YETI’S IN ROTATION: JULY 2019

July has been a relentless month of metal. There has been an upwelling of new releases and the summer concert schedule has been equally annihilating. Over the course of July, I was able to see Between the Buried and Me, Tomb Mold, Khemmis, Flub, Rivers of Nihil, Nekrogoblikon, and Heart amongst others. And to keep me busy in between was new releases from the aforementioned Tomb Mold as well as Disentomb, Demiurgon, and Disowning to name a few. My playlists this month have been a result of these tours and releases with all the amazing memories I’ve been making over the last few weeks. Check out some tunes and enjoy the rest of the summer! Tomb Mold – Planetary Clairvoyance
20 Buck Spin – July 19, 2019

I am a proud Canadian beast, so when I see a band making world wide death metal waves from my neck of the woods… it brings a smile to my furry face. Tomb Mold are back with another master class clinic on death metal with Planetary Clairvoyance. Their sharp refined riffs and killer beastial grooves will no doubt be topping many year-end lists.

Khemmis – Absolution
20 Buck Spin – July 7, 2015

Khemmis are one of those bands that just clicks with metalheads. Their heavy grooves and epic flow is impossible to not jam along too. They bring just as much fury to their live shows, so definitely check these guys out if you get the chance to! “Ash, Cinder, and Smoke” is one of my favourite tracks from these guys if you’re looking for a place to start.

Heart – Dog & Butterfly
Portrait Records – October 7, 1978

Ann and Nancy Wilson are two of the most legit hard rock musicians of all time. They crossed so many boundaries into the progressive rock and metal world that can still be seen today. The crowd at the Heart concert was FULL of battle jackets which was to no surprise. Songs like Mistral Wind are timeless and will be listened to for generations to come.

Demiurgon – The Oblivious Lure
Everlasting Spew Records – July 8, 2019

These Italatian metalheads walk the line between old school and brutal technical death metal, delivering crushingly quick and thick riffs amongst the wicked shreddage and monstrous drums at a nonstop pace. Full of interesting quirks and devastating hooks, Demiurgon may be your new favourite band. Check them out and all they have to offer!

Disentomb – The Decaying Light
Unique Leader Records – July 12, 2019

Another absolute slammer this summer comes from Australia (also known as the land where everything tries to kill you). Disentomb are no different with a solid dose of raw power and obliterating riffage. Just take a look at the cover art to understand what It feels like listening to these guys.
