BAZ Friday LXXVIII – Underground Reco For Underground Maniacs

3 min read

For today, the last #BAZFriday of the year I thought to myself that I should do a special one, I had many ideas of what I could do to get out of the “routine” and the same looking as the previous #BAZFriday‘s but I decided to do the following one. On this day, I will only give you one Reco. And a really good one to be honest…

Band: No Life Code
Title: Maldoror’s Metamorphosis
Label: Ukem Records (U.K.) / Death Portal Studio (USA)
Release date: 14 November 2020
Country: Spain
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording
Style: Black Metal
Time playing: 31:43
Cover/Music: 9/10 – 9/10

So let me start to talk about how I knew this band… It all started when a true METAL lover told me about this band. At that time, I only listened to one or two songs. Was added immediately to my “MUST LISTEN TO” list, I also did a few research that time and found that the members are from bands that I already knew…

Coincidence (or not) a few days later I got the promo directly from the band. And…

Well, it have been playing a lot these past days.

No Life Code is a band from Spain and like I said above, the members are from bands that already knew. Likes like, Itnuveth (very good Pagan Black Metal), MurderWorker (I made the review of their album, here ), Aposento (Death Metal), Cult of Self Destruction and Deviltook (Both bands playing Black Metal and in both, War Productions (from Portugal) was one of the labels supporting them doing the release). So curiosity was high, I have to admit, and… Well, I found a very good release. A very good one…

A very strong Black Metal album with influences of the Scandinavian Black Metal. The riffs, the construction of the songs, the sound, the voice, the tempo changes, the attitude. Yes, at leats in my opinion.

This album is divided into 8 songs and trust me, none is boring/weaker and all stay on high level of quality. So this album is always on top of quality. It really is.

The first song, just simply named “I” (one in Roman numbering for the most distracted), started in a very good and “blasting” way. As I said, the guitar sound is so damn good, the drums, simple sound that probably was recorded in a digital one (easier to mastering), the riffs… Oh my…

The following songs, numbered or simply named as “II”, III”, “IV”, etc till the “VIII”, nothing new in the Black Metal music style, but at the same time is necessary to be different? No. At least in my opinion.

The passages from song to song are “simple” but at the same time, it looks that were made on purpose in order to make the album flew and breathe naturally.

The same I say to the tempo and/or riffs changes in whole album. This album is consistent, compact, firm, strong, resistant, rigid, stiff, solid.

There are riffs or passages in this whole album that I prefer and/or think that I better than other riffs or passages, but even so, I can´t decide, which is the song I like/love more… Well, it doesn’t matter to be honest. It’s a very good damn album, and you must listen to. Trust me.

Like I put on the beginning of the page… It is a 9 and a very well deserved one.
