#ShortOnes CXVI #UndergroundRecos

Hello there,

Yep, it’s true, this is the last Saturday of this month. Another month is almost gone. Time flies… Yes, it does, and we don’t notice… This month has been a good month in many music styles, inside our beloved metal, I had the pleasure to listen to many of those releases. Still, on time for some more. So let me start…

So, check my recos…

Band: Serpent Corpse
Title: Blood Sabbath
Label: Temple of Mystery Records
Release date: 05 July 2023
Country: Canada
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording

Hmmmm… What did this album sound like to me? What can I say? How to describe it? To be honest sounded like a lot of things to me. A mix of Autopsy with a D-beat drum style, with some Thrash Metal riffs here and there, some Doom touches here and there, with some compassed rhythms… Not bad at all, not spectacular or amazing or even superb, but is well done, and in my opinion, the band deserves a listen. So I decided to write some lines here.

Band: Spellsword
Title: Night of the Grail
Label: Nox Liberatio Records
Release date: 28 July 2023
Country: Portugal
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording

This newborn band from Portugal presents an interesting album. The person behind the band is not a newbie and the background even if not big is big in years. You can listen to here a good Black Metal album that moves inside the melodic Black Metal style, with some influences that I dare to say, reminds me some Dissection or Satyricon, maybe a bit of Ancient and I even dare to say more, some Old Man’s Child with the melody. But a first release, is a good one and the band deserves your attention.

Band: Supayniyux
Title: Genocidio infernal
Label: From Deepest Records
Release date: 03 July 2023
Country: Switzerland
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording

To start… The name of the band (written in Quechua), the name of the album (in Castellano since the language Spanish doesn’t exist), the name of the 2 oldest members in the band (current lineup), and finally the music… Yes, my original thoughts were correct. These guys are from South America and yes after my conclusion I went and read the promo info. The music… Well… In the good meaning… The band “stopped” in time (old style and only the South American bands do it very well) and released an amazing album of Brutal Black Death Metal. Very good. Sometimes more Black, sometimes more Death, but both styles are there. reminded me sometimes (but with better sound quality) of Infernal Execrator.

Don’t forget to support the bands and labels.
