BAZ Underground Updates XXXVIV

It’s hard to believe that time has finally come. The last days of the year are upon us, and in only mere hours we can put this horrific time behind us and hopefully move forward to better times. Our writers, Julia Katrin and Tom Boatman are back at it one more time before New Year rolls around, to bring forth information on events and merch for you to indulge in as we wrap this all up.

So, let’s see what’s out there…

Band: Internal Bleeding

To greet the new year we got the first live stream coming up, in the hands of Internal Bleeding, taking place this coming Saturday on January 2nd. Celebrating their 3 decades of unmatched sonic violence, the group plans to perform a set of songs for the occasion. Tickets are available here, and make sure to check the timetable information as well as the bundles including tickets and shirts that have also been made available. Make sure to begin next year in style!

Label: Horror Pain Gore Death Productions

If you’re unfamiliar with the label, their name should give you an idea of what to expect. HPGD are here for anyone looking for some raw, brutal Extreme Metal (especially Death Metal and Grindcore). Right now, until January 2nd 11:59PM EST, the label has a special Christmas offer: 35% off, including CDs, Vinyl, Merch and Digital Downloads on bandcamp (add code: CHRISTMASEVIL2020 at checkout). Now is definitely the perfect time to peruse their catalogue and while you’re at it, you can pick up their 30 track 2020 label sampler free or name your price.

Label: Total Dissonance Worship

For fans of envelope-pushing Extreme Metal, Total Dissonance Worship are a label you should be following. The label was only founded this year, but they’ve already curated a very interesting catalogue of releases, combining both past and new. Head over to the label’s bandcamp page, to check out the music and right now there are two pre-release, limited and hand-numbered cassette editions of the Jazz infused Extreme Metal of Imperial Triumphant’s “Alphaville” and “Serotonin” by Avantgarde Black Metal project Kalt || Weiss. You can be sure both will be sold out very soon.

Label: Pest Productions

Pest Productions are an Underground Extreme Metal label from China, which is interesting in itself. Specialising in Black Metal and Dark Folk, the label has some great releases and just in the past week or so they’ve had several more, including some beautiful Neo Folk from Raflum and the Atmospheric Black/Doom Metal of Airylion.  Check out the releases, including limited editions here and have a look through their catalogue of artists.

Label: Black Lion Records

We’ve mentioned them before, thanks to their frequent great offers, and currently Sweden’s Black Lion Records are running 50% off using the code blacklion50 and name your price on all digital (check out the releases here). The label has plenty of great Black and Death Metal releases to pick from like Æolian, Nemesium and Meadows End. The offer is good for the rest of the year, so head over now and see what takes your fancy.

For the Nomads

We believe that it is in order once more to remind you of the wonderful charity fundraiser that is For the Nomads, which we have regularly mentioned in this article throughout this year. Created by Frank Fanelli, the fundraiser is meant to help those touring crew members that have in the past made concerts and shows available for us to attend and enjoy but have suffered great losses as we are all aware of. By the end of December, the fundraiser paid out over $22,000 to 100+ nomads in need and will bring to us another auction in January which will for sure be filled with all sorts of amazing items donated by various artists. We are certain everyone can find something to their liking, so we encourage you to visit this page for further information or, if you would rather prefer to make a direct donation, you can do so here.

In all fairness, even if we have been stuck at home for the majority of the past 12 months and have watched all our favorite scheduled shows, concerts and festivals go down the flusher, the two of us and as far as we know the entire BAZ family has had a wonderful time this year bringing you underground music, information of live streams and fabulous merch and vinyls. Artists have clearly been working hard from home to make the disappointment up to us and we would like to believe that we have also done our part to pay them back for their hard work to help to at least keep them afloat. We are excited to see what 2021 will bring us, and for now we wish you a happy New Year, stay safe and hold your horns high!
