BAZ Underground Updates XXVI

For most people, the week starts on a Monday, and ends on a Sunday adding up to 7 days. However, for us here at BAZ it starts on a Monday and 7 minutes later its Sunday and time has once more slipped away unnoticed. Well, it’s Tuesday once again and like always Julia Katrin and Tom Boatman are back, sweating and struggling to stay hydrated, to bring you the latest news of offers, live streams and merch to indulge in for the next 7 minutes.

So, let’s see what’s out there….

Band: Enslaved

In case you live under a rock, let us be the first to tell you that the Norwegian metallers of Enslaved are releasing their latest full-length album next Friday titled Utgard. In honor of the album release, the group is taking it a step further and presenting us with a special treat in the form of a virtual release a day in advance, Thursday the 1st of Spooktober (or October, for those who don’t enjoy Halloween) Titled Utgard – The Journey Within. In collaboration with Germany based metal festival Summer Breeze Open Air the event will be presented by Louder along with Prog and Metal Hammer and what we will be getting is a chance to hear several tracks played live for us from the new album for the very first time, completely free of cost! However, if you wish to support the production costs you can donate here or you can head over here (EU) or here (US) to purchase some of the exclusive tour merch designs. Make sure to also check the event´s Facebook page for further information on time schedule and stream link!

Band: Corey Taylor

This Friday we will get a chance to join Slipknot´s Corey Taylor for a monumental global streaming event from Los Angeles in celebration of Corey´s new solo album CMFT, or short for Corey Mother Fucking Taylor. The stream, Forum or Against ´Em will feature a full band as well as a set list including previously mentioned album in its entirety, along with tracks from Slipknot and Stone Sour and finally, a handful of covers. A special pre-show will start one hour before the event that will include exclusive interviews as well as special behind the scene footage, and for all ticket purchasers the main event will be available for 72 hours after the stream ends.

For additional information you can visit this site, and for tickets are VIP packages we suggest you waste no more time and head over here to get yours!

Label: Black Lion Records

The wonderful folks at Sweden’s Black Lion Records have a stonking great offer from now until Halloween: name your price on their whole digital catalogue. Head over to the label’s bandcamp page and peruse their garden of unearthly extreme metal delights, with bands such as Desolator, Nemesium, Meadows End and Apotheus available to you right now for whatever you want to pay. You really can’t say any fairer than that.

Band: Sleep

One of the most iconic stoner metal bands Sleep have announced a new colour vinyl edition of their most iconic album “Dopesmoker” that includes its 60min+ title track. This new black and orange splatter double vinyl edition is available from the European Southern Lord website here (where you’ll also find other editions of the album). For anyone outside of Europe, you can get hold of a copy here and when you’d like a 20min mini-trance, sit back and absorb “Dopesmoker Pt. 1” below.

Band: Depravity

The suitably named Depravity present a technical, brutal and powerful dose of death metal with their latest release “Grand Malevolence” on Transcending Obscurity Records. The album won’t be out till December 4th, but of course being as it’s Transcending Obscurity there are all sorts of cool special limited editions you can get your hands on. So why not check them all out here while everything’s still available, and if you need a little primer first to whet your appetite, click below to hear a sample of the album.

Band: Gnaw Their Tongues

It doesn’t get much more niche in the realms of extreme metal than Gnaw Their Tongues, but make no mistake one-man-band Maurice de Jong has a devoted following for his unique blend of black ambient drone noise metal. Just announced last week there’s a limited vinyl issue of 2019’s “Kapmeswonden en Haatliederen” in red and black vinyl. This edition is almost sold out already, but if you’re quick you might be able to snap one up here. And if you’re looking for something to give you nightmares, click below.

Band: Ceremonial Bloodbath

Feeling in the mood for some Deicide and Mortician inspired death metal brutality? Then head on over to Sentient Ruin Laboratories, where the debut full-length release by Ceremonial Bloodbath has just been announced. Lined up for an October 23rd release “The Tides of Blood” is heavy enough to knock the fillings out of your teeth. There are some tasty vinyl editions (as well as cassette and digital)  for you to grab here. And you can get the sledgehammer party started by assaulting your head with this sample from the album below:

For the Nomads

Finally, we would like to shout out once again the fundraiser For the Nomads, led by Frank Fanelli in order to support the invisible workers behind the scenes which make the shows we love so much possible. Round four of the Nomad´s silent auction has now started on the fundraiser´s webpage including items donated by great artists such as Korn, Lamb of God and Kreator. Also make sure to visit the GoFundMe page where you can make a direct donation and of course don’t forget the Nomad´s Facebook page for all the information you might ever want!

It only feels like yesterday we were sighing over the fact that September was already here, and now we have already arrived on it´s last remaining days. Spooktober is around the corner and we encourage one and all to dress up as their favorite metalheads, to put on some corpse paint and go out to spook old ladies. Just make sure to wear a mask and bring a sataniz…. sanitizer!
