The Swedish masters of brutality Nekrodawn are back at business doing what they do best: crushing your ears and brain with the most infectious and demolishing sound. Their new single, “Neath Skies of Iron”, is just a “snack” for their upcoming album, “Covenant of Carnage”, that will be released in August. And, honestly, after the mind blowing album they put out in 2024, I can’t wait!

Their new song is a fast and furious assault. In less than three minutes and a half, I already have the idea of what the new album will be about. Relentless death metal involving pulverising drums, a big amount of brutality… All in the vein of Nekrodawn previous stuff.

The guitars sound is insane, dark, menacing; the riffs are infectious, and oh behold some glimpses of great technique! With that monstrous bass to make the experience even darker; it’s like descending to the most insane depths of chaos. The intense drums don’t spare on speed or power, the result is an overwhelming amount of beats and kicks that leave me breathless. I particularly love the tom rolls and the fierce intensity of the beating. The vocals are furious growls that spit chants about courage, being united and becoming victorious even in the worst of chaos, against the toughest storms. An uplifting message, indeed.

With this song in advance, I can’t help but eagerly await the entire album. 9.5/10
