Survivalist – Radio Bleed new single
Born on the city streets of Belfast, Northern Ireland, Survivalist have been shaped by their own personal struggles, the rotting heart of human society and the frightening, fractured world we live in. In a form of sonic alchemy they take the resulting negative emotions – fear, frustration, anger and despair – and transform them into an unbowed, unbroken, uncompromising sound; a sound built from bulldozing grooves, titanic riffs, concussive breakdowns and devastating vocals, a sound they have branded ‘Groovecore’. Survivalist introduced themselves to the wider world with the unbridled passion and intensity of their 2021 debut album, VII, which garnered plaudits from across the metal press. The single ‘Greater Negative’ followed in the album’s wake and accelerated their upwards trajectory, being picked up for airplay by BBC Radio. Away from the studio Survivalist’s reputation as an incendiary live act was growing as they toured with Party Canon and shared the stage with the likes of Polaris, Chelsea Grin, Suffocation, Atreyu, Kublai Khan and many more.
In April 2025 Survivalist found themselves on prime time television, on Channel 5, interviewed by presenters Gaby Roslin and Ortis Deley and now the time has come for the next chapter in the story of Survivalist’s seemingly inevitable ascent through the extreme music ranks to begin in earnest. A second album, A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone… has been announced, with first single ‘Deathbed’, featuring a guest vocal performance from Alex Koehler (Ameonna, ex-Chelsea Grin), already having hinted at the unstoppable force fans can expect. And on August 29th a second single will detonate – perhaps Survivalist’s most fiercely focussed expression of defiance yet – ‘Radio Bleed’. Colossal weight, gut-punching power and irresistible rhythms combine in this crushing, anthemic distillation of every element that gives Survivalist their unmistakeable identity. Produced, mixed and mastered by Josh Sid Robinson (Archives, Skullmaiden, Congential Abnormalities etc) ‘Radio Bleed’ sounds vital, vibrant and downright dangerous. When they first heard VII, Metal Temple were convinced that Survivalist were “clearly going to move on to bigger and better things and reach greater heights” – and ‘Radio Bleed’ is the sound of that prophecy unfolding.
A video for ‘Radio Bleed’ was filmed with the help of Survivalist’s dedicated home town fans at the Bridges Urban Sports Park in Belfast and it perfectly captures the spirit of this song, this band and the bond they have with their supporters.
