Finnish melodic death metal veterans Insomnium are back with their first breeze from the North. “Shadowlife”, released on June 17, serves as the first single from the band’s forthcoming tenth studio album. While the album is scheduled to arrive in October 2026, neither its exact release date, title, nor cover artwork has been revealed yet.

“Shadowlife” feels like a cool northern air amid the heat of summer. Its fast-paced rhythm immediately awakens the listener, infusing the track with a renewed sense of energy. Yet beneath its driving momentum, Insomnium preserves the melancholic atmosphere that has long defined the band’s identity, creating a balance between speed and emotional depth.

Although traces of Insomnium’s previous works are still present, “Shadowlife” hints at a fresh direction for the upcoming album. It carries the familiar emotional weight while introducing a more vigorous and energetic spirit, leaving me genuinely excited for what lies ahead.
