On December 18th, 2025 internationally, Void Wanderer Productions & War Productions are proud to present Hexagraf’s striking album Walsen van hoop.
Hexagraf is a dark, brooding musical project born from the collaboration between two Zwotte Kring members: Daan (Duindwaler, Hellevaerder, Magistraal & Throne of Time) and Floris (Asgrauw, Meslamtaea, Schavot & The Color of Rain). Their journey began when Daan contributed guest vocals to Schavot’s album Verstrikt in Halflicht. The creative chemistry during that session was undeniable, powerful enough to spark the idea for a new, shared project.
Thematically, Hexagraf delves into the grim realities of heavy industry and factories, capturing the relentless rhythm of industrial machinery. Musically, this translates to a sound that is slow, sluggish, and crushingly heavy: a fusion of blackened doom, symphonic elements, and raw, raspy grunts that seem to cling to the lungs like coal dust and stale tobacco smoke. Thus, Hexagraf was born!
The project officially took shape in the winter of 2024–2025, as Daan and Floris immersed themselves in the creative process. The name Hexagraf draws on the hexagonal structure of carbon (“Hexa”) and the material graphite (“Graf”), symbolizing both hardness and the inevitable decay wrought by industry. It also nods to the Dutch word for grave (“graf”), reinforcing the bleak, death-laced atmosphere that defines their sound.
At the heart of Hexagraf is an atmosphere of darkness and decay, a sonic reflection of lives crushed beneath the gears of industry. Their debut album, “Walsen van hoop”, features six dense, oppressive tracks that sonically portray the human cost of mechanization. All lyrics are performed in Dutch. The music itself is a towering blend of massive guitars, pounding drums, church organ-laced keyboards, choirs, piano, and fretless bass. Its slow, relentless pace mirrors the grinding motion of factory machines, while the symphonic textures evoke a haunting beauty amid desolation. The recording and album production were entirely handled by the band themselves.
Walsen van Hoop stands as a testament to Hexagraf’s vision: a bleak, symphonic, and visceral journey through a world swallowed by industrial ruin.
