“Dragonknight‘ s powerful new single, “The Legions Of Immortal Dragonlords”, brings a thunderous war cry for brave souls in the epic metal community, echoing the spirit of legendary bands like Blind Guardian and Rhapsody. Dragonknight did it again!
Lord Salo Kahn, Lord Gryphon, Lord Othrakis, Lord Kharatos and Lord Solaris summoned their warriors with the battle cry “The Legions Of Immortal Dragonlords,” the second single from their highly anticipated debut album “Legions”, to be released on January 17th via Scarlet Records.

Concerning lyrics, the single revolves around timeless dichotomies; fear-courage, knowledge-ignorance, darkness-light, blind obedience-rebellion. These forces intersect throughout the history, introducing the Dragonlords as representing the brave heroes who defy anything against the gain of freedom, knowledge and the releasing of the spirit from all imposed yoke. “The Legions Of Immortal Dragonlords” is a battle cry for those who do not back down in fear, whose unwavering courage and conviction allow them to face and defeat the darkest forces. It is a story of heroes who fight and prevail where others fail; brave leaders, united, guiding the weakest towards their liberation.
Long story short, “The Legions Of The Dragonlords” is a glorious new anthem for those who love and find inspiration in heroes, knights, swords, honour and glory to make it another day, encouraged with bravery to defeat any dark force that may appear on the path.
Back to the music, the single is composed in a fairly stable fast tempo and a 4/4 time signature. The eighties tinges of the keyboard arrangements, featuring charming arpeggios in the verses, add a rich texture to the ensemble. On the other hand, the balance between the rhythmic base, the killer riffs and the outstanding guitar-keyboard solos gives stability, while complementing each other in precise alchemy, totally aligned with the essence of epic.
Meanwhile, the vocal work featured in “The Legions Of Immortal Dragonlords” is worthy of an anthology. The perfect synchronicity of the voice and the rhythm makes it fluid, balanced and catchy, which are attributes to become a new and powerful anthem within the genre.
Lord Salo Kahn’s professionalism allows him to craft technically flawless arrangements, while exuding emotionality, connection with the history and theatricality, achieving a perfect tune with the essence of epic metal.
Worth noting, our five Lords surprised us a few weeks ago with their first single, “The Imperator”. With that track, the band spelt out that they are an oracle of power, magic and old-school epic power metal, coming to revive the genre.

Now, what do I mean by “reviving” the genre?
Let’s go to the ’90s and the beginnings of epic power metal. Albums like “Nightfall in Middle-Earth” by Blind Guardian and Rhapsody with “Legendary Tales” made history for their lyrical narrative about brave warriors, dragons, elves and heroic battles, and where music, featuring dramatic orchestrations, heavenly melodies and thunderous rhythm, gave life to musical epics that configured a new and amazing genre within metal.
And even more. Manowar‘s “Kings Of Metal” is, for many, the quintessence of “epic”; full of testosterone, swords, war cries and adrenaline, fused with demolishing drums and killer riffs, became the sound/rhythmic standard for the epic metal bands that emerged in the years to come.
Moving forward to late ’24, Dragonknight brings back those vibes; of brave knights, warriors, genuine leaders full of charisma, battles, swords, and public and anonymous heroes. Also, Dragonknight conveys a sense of community that catches my soul and turns them into one of my favourite brand-new bands. Because, if there is anything that seduced me from the beginning about epic metal, it was precisely its gathering and community spirit. Epic metal led to the encounter with others who look for their tribe, guided by the value-driven vision conveyed through its lyrical narrative. Dragonknight awakens the same passion, and gathering power. As a result, beyond being a band, Dragonknight is an order to which anyone in the crew, who shares the values of epic metal, and loves music and melodies full of richness, nuances, textures, and talent can join.
In conclusion, Dragonknight not only revives the glory of epic metal but also recreates it with refreshing mastery. In turn, their second shoot “The Legions Of Immortal Dragonlords” is a thunderous anthem that positions the band as a new benchmark of the genre. The combination of impeccable technical quality with an inspiring narrative summons and excites, conveying a spirit of brotherhood that transcends barriers.
Lord Salo Kahn, the dark clairvoyant of “The Legions of Immortal Dragonlords”, together with Dragonknight, give us a fantastic new preview of what promises to be “Legions”; an album that smells like a legend, and a milestone in the history of epic metal, on par with great pioneers of the genre such as Blind Guardian and Rhapsody. 10/10 by Elyna
