We are in the second week of June already! How crazy is that? Our writers Julia Katrin and Tom Osman surely are a wee bit surprised at how time is just flying by, however, they are still back with another installment of The Underground Updates!

ALLEVIATE The Dutch/German metal supergroup Alleviate has revealed the release date of their debut album DMNS on the 23rd of August this summer, and so the group is scheduled for a very busy times ahead, including some live shows, as well as the group has also released a video for their new single Alive! OFFICIUM TRISTE Dutch death/doom metal unit Officium Triste are back this September with their own brand of powerful and emotive metal. Hortus Venenum will be released on Transcending Obscurity Records and marks the 30th anniversary of the band. Head over here where you can listen to two preview tracks and pre-order the album on a variety of formats. It’s Transcending Obscurity so there’s merch galore. Get on it!
DEFACEMENT Over here in the Northern Hemisphere the summer is slowly drawing in, but let’s throw that all out the window and get sucked down a dark, monstrous void of gloom and horror with Defacement and forthcoming album Duality (out 26 July on Avantgarde Music). A thunderous concoction of death and black metal, you can listen to the sprawling 16 minute final track here where you can also pre-order the album on vinyl or CD.
Having to pay gigantic sums for international postage is a real gear grinder. While it’s our default setting to link Bandcamp pages in the case of new and pre-releases, we thought it would be helpful to add some online stores that might provide a useful alternative.
