#ShortOnes CXVII #UndergroundRecos
Hello there,
The first Saturday of the August month… I have to say the following… In the past August was the quietest month for new releases, it was the time for Summer Festivals and bands & labels were very quiet during this time of the year and preparing future releases for September & October… Was a kind of cycle… Well… A few years back, in my opinion, since Covid everything changed and August at this moment is almost a normal month related to new releases… Is it good or bad? Well… Nowadays to be honest I don’t know anymore… Tradition is like what it was…
So, check my recos…
Band: Balrogath
Title: We Bring Calamity
Label: Independent
Release date: 03 August 2023
Country: Canada
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording
The EP from this Canadian band is different from what I normally listen to and to be honest I think they deserve a chance to all of you to listen to this EP. In my opinion, is a mix of Melodic Death Metal, with some Heavy Metal touches here and there, and some clean voices that could fit very well in some Prog band. The mix is not bad at all. Not my cup of tea or not my beach like we say in my country. But they deserve some attention. Give them a chance.
Band: Chupacabra
Title: Fortified with Ashes
Label: Independent
Release date: 04 August 2023
Country: England
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording
For the ones that know The chupacabra or chupa-cabra is a legendary creature in the folklore of parts of the Americas. The name comes from the animal’s reported vampirism—the chupacabra is said to prey on and drink the blood of livestock. Now the band, this one is one of the few bands around the world that have this name and they released the first release. It is an EP and what a damn good first release. The band plays a very damn good Death Thrash Metal. Well played, energetic, well constructed, very catchy. I want more. I want to listen to the next release and I hope it is an album. Continue the good work mates.
Band: Dun Ringill
Title: Where the Old Gods Play – Act 1
Label: The Sign Records
Release date: 04 August 2023
Country: Sweden
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording
What a good journey. Yes, I had a very good time while listening to this very good album. The atmosphere around it, the riffs, the changes of tempo, the changes of riffs, the drum, the voice, the solos, the influences on it. The whole album was a very good journey. The doom Metal made by this Swedish band is very good and a very strong one. It managed to grab my attention from the very first minute and listening to this album over and over it never tired me. I almost can say it is a masterpiece. I advise it to all of you. Give them a listen. Well deserved the time spent while listening to it.
Don’t forget to support the bands and labels.
