#BAZUndergroundUpdates CLXXII

Once again Tuesday is upon us and of course as always, our writers Julia Katrin and Tom Osman are back with yet another brand-new instalment of The Underground Updates!

So, let’s see what’s out there…

BLACKNING Posted just last Friday was the official video to the track Lamb to the Slaughter by Blackning! Taken from their brand new full length album Awakening Rage you can head over here to give the track a go, and of course over here to claim your very own copy of the new album, out via Black Lion Records!

TEMPLE OF SCORN Some new artwork has just been revealed for the Temple of Scorn release; a death metal band formed by members of Baest, Dawn of Demise, Bloodgutter, Invocator, Exmortem and more, and you can now head straight over here to check them out by listening to their track Burden of Decline!

BLACK MOON MOTHER Thew official music video for Black Moon Mother´s latest single Echoes of the Universe dropped just a week ago and if you haven’t watched it already, head straight over here to give it a go!

SEPTORY An official video has also been released from Septory, which is a cover of Benediction´s The Grotesque! Head over here to check them out!

SKINNY PUPPY On leg two of their upcoming tour, Skinny Puppy will be supported once more by Lead into Gold and tickets are selling super-fast! Head over here right now to check out the dates and locations and be sure to claim one for a show near you!

ORGAN DEALER Feel like the world is closing in around you? Feeling the need to explode in a ball of fury? It’s time for some grindcore then. Italy’s Everlasting Spew Records have just what the doctor ordered, with a fine slab of putrid, raging extreme metal in the form of Organ Dealer and their new release The Weight of Being. Out now, you can check out the cassette, CD and t-shirt available (and just listen to the album) here.

URBAN Jeez! The world really does seem to be ending this week. Welcome to your post-Covid dystopian nightmare in the form of A Soul Purged by Urbain, out now on Portugal’s Hypnotic Dirge Records. Moody, often instrumental, black metal that still has its share of in-your-face intensity alongside the sombre shadows. Check it out here for all versions, including vinyl and to listen in full.

THRA Mmmmmm Arizona death sludge is indeed very sludgy! Thra have just released Forged in Chaotic Spew and you may need to shower after this one (if you haven’t been suffocated in sludge and mud). Check out the album in full here and follow the link to pick up a vinyl copy from Translation Loss.

FLESHVESSEL Yearning: Promethean Fates Sealed by extreme progressive metal trail blazers Fleshvessel is one of the strangest and adventurous extreme metal releases you could wish to lay your ears on this year. Out now on the ever-reliable I Voidhanger Records, the album provides a synthesis of everything from King Crimson, Immolation, Mr. Bungle, Van der Graaf Generator and too much else to mention. It’s wild. Check it out here

ISKANDR In the mood for some heathen music channeling Laibach and Dead Can Dance? Head over to Bandcamp and listen to the preview track from Iskandr and forthcoming album Spiritus Sylvestris, due for release on the 29th of September.

Having to pay gigantic sums for international postage is a real gear grinder.

While it’s our default setting to link Bandcamp pages in the case of new and pre-releases, we thought it would be helpful to add some online stores that might provide a useful alternative.

So if you see a release you fancy, but it’s being sold in a far off land and you don’t want to fork out on exorbitant shipping, see if any of the links below can remedy the situation.
