Metal. What a wonderful music style. So diverse, modern, and at the same time so traditional. With plenty of music subgenres. Yes, that is true. I remember when it was only a few styles and suddenly… Puf…

In this case and today, I’m writing about one band from France named Ritualization. I remember seeing the previous releases covers but, yes, I never listened until I got the promo of this EP.

This band to be more exact from Orléans, brought to me or played to me one of the various subgenres in Metal or I can say too, a mix of styles. They play Blackened Death Metal. To some this music style is nothing more than Black Metal mixed with Death Metal, in a very simple way to say/write, Black Death Metal.

Well, to me, is not that. At least not Black Death Metal, for me is like, a big part is Death Metal and only some touches of Black Metal. Like 80/20 or 85/15. Is this correct? I don’t know to be honest, but that is my opinion.

The release played by Blastum on Drums, Infamist on Guitars, Warchangel on Vocals, Da’ath on Guitars, and Daethorn Bass, Vocals (backing), is a pure discharge of blast beats, fast riffs, and hated voice. A perfect release to woke up in the morning and feel the strength to go out and see humans. Ahahahahah.

It’s a funny or maybe a silly way to describe this release, but yes. Could be, “You can not win”, “I’m stronger than you”, “I’m here fighting you”, etc etc etc…

Divided into just 3 hymns this EP is a masterpiece. Yes. That is the correct word and even if they have their own style of playing, I can mention some bands that influenced the sound of this band., or maybe not. Who knows? Only the band…

The band’s sound/music reminds me a bit of Centurian in the Death Metal part and in the Blackened (maybe too obvious) but reminds me a bit of Angelcorpse. But only remind me, not a copy + paste band.

This EP with just 3 songs, could be easy to say which song is better, well the possibilities are just a few. But is not easy, trust me. So I will go to the one I think/feel is the most destructive song. For that I can say…

The winner is…

“When the Chalice Runneth Over”. The third song of this EP. Man… So F@&%#ing devastating, even when the song starts to slow down (a lot), but the atmosphere around it, the riffs there, the solo, the voice, and when it restarts again… Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh

Beware that the previous songs are very good too, I’m just mentioning now the most devastating song of the EP.

So damn good… This EP is a must have. Trust me. And for me… Yes… 9/10 The Key Keeper 666
