BAZ Underground Updates XLV

3 min read

As February continues to crawl by, we start to get more and more daylight as the days get longer and even if it’s freezing cold where our writers Julia Katrin and Tom Boatman reside, that doesn´t stop them from continuing bringing our readers the latest updates on fabulous merchandise, music and live shows. If anything, it encourages them to stay inside and just write, duh?

So, let’s see what’s out there…

Band: Gaerea

In the beginning of February Gaerea teamed up with Gimme Metal! to host a two hour long radio show which we mentioned in our weekly article back then, and as promised, we’re now following up on that. As planned, this coming Saturday, February 13th, the group will perform a virtual concert taking place via Gimme TV in association with Season of Mist. The show will be available only on the Gimme Metal app, which you can download here as well as receive all additional information, time tables and of course, tickets! Make sure to also check out the three exclusive shirt designs for the stream!

Band: Love and Death

You’re probably familiar with former Korn member Brian Welch, but you may or may not be aware of the upcoming live stream his band Love and Death is planning for this coming Friday the 12th of February. Like with so many other live streams, you will be able to view it for 48 hours after the initial show time. So, if you have 15 dollars laying around and furiously looking for entertainment for Friday, simply head over here and get your ticket secured.

Band: Mare Cognitum

Seeking Black Metal with a focus on cosmic themes? Jacob Buczarski has been releasing music under the Mare Cognitum moniker since 2011. March 11th will see the latest release “Solar Paroxyism” made available on Italy’s I, Voidhanger Records, but you don’t want to wait till then to pick up a copy, because there’s a limited coloured double LP gatefold edition you can pick up here alongside digital and CD versions and a long sleeve t-shirt to go with the release.

Band: Sarin

Reportedly written and recorded on the back of a catalogue of personal misfortunes, “You Can’t Go Back”, the new album by Toronto, Ontario’s Sarin is Atmospheric Sludge Metal with a real bite. The sound of the album is just so satisfyingly thick and weighty. Officially released on February 5th, on Prosthetic Records, you can pick up a limited coloured vinyl, CD or digital copy here.

Band: Intonate

Following up their 2016 debut album The Swerve, Montreal, Québec’s Intonate have announced another round of bruising Technical Death Metal in the form of “Severed Within”, due for release on April 16th. Head over to bandcamp and you can feast on various limited edition coloroued vinyl editions, some cool merch and bundle options too.  Better than a poke in the eye and quite possibly even more aggressive.

As always, there is absolutely no reason to sit at home in rags and be bored. Even if live streams are becoming less and less frequent, there are still artists and labels out there needing our support during these times, so enjoy what they have cooked up for us and as always, wash your horns before raising them!
