BAZ Friday LVIII – Underground Reco For Underground Maniacs

The first Friday of August… This time I decided to do a special #BAZFriday dedicated to the English label Aesthetic Death. A label specialised in Funeral Doom, Death/Doom Metal, Sludge, Noise/Dark Ambient, and Black Metal. I have a few releases of them and I’m following the label since 2008 when it was released the Murkrat (Aus) “Murkrat” CD. It’s a very good label in my opinion…

Band: Esoteric
Title: Metamorphogenesis
Label: Aesthetic Death
Release date: 10 August 2020
Country: England
Format reviewed: Digital promo

First of all, This is not the new Esoteric album but a re-issue of the album released by Eibon Records in 1999. So why I’m writing some lines here? Well, the album deserves to be mention and for the re-issue of this album, it was re-mastered and re-mixed especially for the vinyl edition. It’s a very good Funeral Doom with a very dark atmosphere around it.

Band: Nagaarum
Title: Covid Diaries
Label: Aesthetic Death
Release date: 31 July 2020
Country: Hungary
Format reviewed: Digital Promo

Oh my… Really? I will explain it. This is the first time I heard about this band and I can say that I really love it. Nagaarum is a one-man band and the music style is a big mix. They move inside the Ambient, Noise, Experimental Doom, some Black Metal and Dark Ambient. At least to me. Now my surprise… The band started in 2011 and… Already have 17 albums and 2 splits. Damn… The album was released originally in May via digital.

Band: Starless Domain
Title: Alma
Label: Aesthetic Death
Release date: 03 August 2020
Country: USA
Format reviewed: Digital Promo

Originally released in 2019 only in digital format. Now it’s time the physical released in a 6 panel Digipack. Starless Domain is an Ambient or Atmospheric Black Metal (If you take off the keys, it sound like an old fast Black Metal album) and this album only has one song in a total of 44:42 playtime. It’s boring? Not really. In fact is very diversified. But at the same time I admit, it took some listening to start liking this album and understood what is behind it. I think I did…
