BAZ Friday XXXIX – Underground Reco For Underground Maniacs

3 min read

Hello again. Here I’m to give you some recos.
Since the last #BAZFriday post, I had the time and chance too, to listen to really good music. So… The following ones are my choices. Enjoy it.

Band: Dawn Of Solace
Title: Waves
Label: Noble Demon
Release date: 24 January 2020
Country: Finland
Format reviewed: Digital Stream

I remember reading something from this band and I think I also listen too to this band back in 2007 or 2008 and the first album was already released in 2006 and now this band featuring Tuomas Saukkonen from Wolfheart and ex-Before the Dawn, ex-Jumalhämärä just to mention a few is a Finnish composer, multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer and also a prolific songwriter made this masterpiece together with Mikko Heikkilä from Kaunis Kuolematon and ex-Red Moon Architect plus others that I never heard about, Sorry. And what we have here? A masterpiece like I already said. Amazing album. The construction of the songs, the riffs, the solos, the voices, and the lyrics… Tchhhh. So much feeling on them. This maybe doesn’t sound to metal, but I must say it because is the truth. I’m in love with this album. Favorite track in this album is “Hiding”, cause of the lyrics and it made me cry (yap, It is true) I saw so many things there. You need to check it.

Band: Nauthik
Title: Araganu
Label: Auric Records
Release date: 24 January 2020
Country: Germany
Format reviewed: Digital Stream

Originally released in digital format by the label, the physical format saw the daylight one month later. Araganu is a Funeral Doom band and this album is the first one. Before this album, they have a split tape with Babylon Asleep also from Germany. The music… Really good, very slow (yes I know that is Funeral doom), very felt, very atmospheric. I felt myself getting inside the cadence of the riffs and the songs so quickly like I didn’t felt a long time ago. I think I was in the perfect mood to listen to this music style. It’s true that Funeral Doom is not for everyone, but you really need to check this band.

Band: Konvent
Title: Puritan Masochism
Label: Napalm Records
Release date: 27 January 2020
Country: Denmark
Format reviewed: Digital Stream

One day I was “surfing” on the net and I saw the cover from this band. Decided to check it and listen. And… Uh la la. Very good. A very good album of Death Doom Metal. While I was listening, I started to check more info from the band. I found that all the musicians are a woman (no problem for me), they are from Denmark and they already released one demo in 2017, before this very good album named “Puritan Masochism”. The cadence in the music and the voice reminds me a lot the Death Doom Metal made on the 90’s, I felt again a teenager listening to them music. Very good in fact. I advise this band to everyone.

Band: Marrasmieli
Title: Between Land and Sky
Label: Naturmacht Productions
Release date: 27 January 2020
Country: Finland
Format reviewed: Digital Stream

This band was a reco from Jammerfal. I checked and… Very good Black Metal from Finland. It is a very balanced album and managed to grab me from the first song to the last one even if it as keyboards (I’m not a big fan). The songs, the melody behind it, the sound production, the pagan atmosphere/feeling on it and the voice too. The album is very good and in my opinion, you need to check it.
