BLACKDEATH is from Russia and they play… Black Metal. “Phantasmhassgorie” is the ninth album from this already cult band, at least for me. I do not have all releases from them but I have several. Once more, they didn’t disappoint me. The album is good with a raw sound but at the same time, I can hear everything including the bass. EhEh. “Phantasmhassgorie” is an unusual name (+/- like “Phantasm hate speech”) but since the band is also an unusual band and they always didn’t care about trendy categories inside the Black Metal, the name fits very well. This is Black Metal and Black Metal is BLACKDEATH.

MESLAMTAEA is from the Netherlands and when I got the promo from the band and after a few days from the label I was very excited. Only one past release of them is missing in my collection. “Niets en niemendal” is the second album from this unorthodox Black Metal and it was necessary to wait 14 years, but it was worth the wait, believe me. Good songs make this release a very good one. I notice the voice is different from the previous releases and of course it was. The band have a new vocalist. The band is composed with just two members, both in ASGRAUW (last album was reviewed in BAZ). Check them.

Title: Demo
Label: Back From The Grave Tapes
Release Date: 31 January 2019

LEVENDLEED… Well, I found they are from the Netherlands and it is a one-man Depressive Black Metal band or should I say Melancholic Black Metal? Hmmmm… Well, I think I will stay with the second option. I chose the second option mainly because the voice is not the “typical” depressive Black Metal way of singing. The songs are melancholic and dark and the songs are all in the mid tempo/ slower tempo, so no blast beats here and I think there is not necessarily a need for them for it to be a good work. Thanks for this LEVENDLEED.

Title: Misfortune
Label: Back From The Grave Tapes
Release Date: 31 January 2019
Country: Brazil
Format Reviewed: Digital Promo
NOSTOS is from Brazil and this release was originally released via digital in 2018. When I got the promo and decided to give it a listen I was with one foot behind. Why? The majority of the Black Metal bands that I know from Brazil are into the “Hail Satan, Hail Lucifer, Hail Beelzebub, etc” with a very raw sound and singing in Brazilian (well, it’s Portuguese but very different at the same time) and almost all of them are sounding the same. But… NOSTOS is not. They play Black Metal that sounds to me like Hellenic Black Metal and ROTTING CHRIST or VARATHRON were the first names that came to mind. They have influences, yes, but they are not copy + paste. Just listen to them.
