#SingleReview ReDimoni – Death by Ordeal by Sílvia

The old-school thrashers ReDimoni (which means ‘ReDemon’ in English) are back to business, this time they have released a new single, “Death by Ordeal”, and you better be ready for this relentless track.

Four years have passed since their previous release, the EP “Downfall and Penance”, and the first thing I immediately noticed was the change in the vocals. There are no savage squeals, but a more low register. This makes the song sound darker and more menacing. It seems like there’s a threatening atmosphere floating around while I’m listening to it. And the harsh growls at the end are so wicked… Well, a song talking about death, I’m not feeling like being surrounded by unicorns and rainbows!

A thing that doesn’t change is the fact that they play very infectious riffs and harmonies, the guitar duo are highly committed to their task. The sharpness of these instruments is only eased by the bass, with an important role on this track, adding the amount of low tune rumble that’s needed for a more whole sound. I highly appreciate the bass to be this audible, indeed!

What to say about drums… their sound is intense, marching on like a steamroller, delivering varied patterns and with the cymbals being mercilessly smashed. The double bass is steaming, and there’s a high level of energy from start to finish. I like the way the drums join the guitar solo, and how they run along with the sharp strings in a non-competitive race, going on together like old friends, delivering fire.

Special mention to the artwork, a striking image in blue tones, I love the horror that it depicts. It was done by the artist known as CreatureDesigns on Instagram, you can go there and check his horrifying creations.

Really good to see that old school thrash metal is still alive ‘n kickin’! 9/10
