Plague Cathedral Announce To Dust You Shall Return, Out October 26, words by Pegah
The Canadian duo Plague Cathedral have announced the release of their upcoming album, To Dust You Shall Return, scheduled for October 26, 2026. The album will be released via Zazen Sounds and Cavsas, the French experimental metal offshoot of the renowned Cyclic Law label.
Written and recorded between the winter of 2025 and the summer of 2026, the album was recorded at Dirgevows Studios in Quebec, Canada. Chris Undirheimar is responsible for the lyrics, while Yves Allaire handled the music, artwork, and layout.
Described by the band as experimental industrial doom, the album features seven tracks:
- Acerbitas Mortis
- Une Offrande aux Corbeaux
- Le Souffle Perfide du Néant
- Prague’s Orloj
- 1346
- L’Ombre et le Supplicié
- Un Fléau sans Nom
With titles that evoke mortality, darkness, and historical imagery, To Dust You Shall Return already presents an intriguing identity. And if you’re expecting a conventional doom metal release, think again. Plague Cathedral is taking a different path, venturing into the territory of experimental industrial doom.
Ahead of the album’s release, Plague Cathedral will premiere the official music video for “Acerbitas Mortis,” the album’s opening track, on October 13 at 6 PM. The premiere offers listeners an opportunity to experience the first track from To Dust You Shall Return ahead of the album’s arrival on October 26.
