The US-based sludge doom metal band Cowardice have released a new single, “The Mile Before the Burning Shore”, from their upcoming album “You Have Taught Me Everything That I Know”, in collaboration with Cementation Anxiety. The track takes the listener into a surreal dreamscape where celestial visions, incomprehensible machines, and a sense of impending terror emerge from the depths of sleep.

According to their Bandcamp, “You Have Taught Me Everything That I Know”, which is scheduled for release on November 20, presents Cowardice at their densest and most harrowing, moving away from the airy and organic character of “Atavist”. Cementation Anxiety adds a frozen, textural layer to the already glacial nature of the music, deepening its cold and heavy character.

The lyrics make the track feel more like a dream-state encounter with something vast, incomprehensible, and almost sacred—but terrifying. Extremely heavy, low-tuned guitars align with the surreal atmosphere of a dream, where everything feels stretched and slow. The harsh and raspy screams perfectly embody the fear experienced by the narrator in his dream.
