Te Deum is a Ukrainian doom/death metal band formed in Kyiv on August 31, 1995. Emerging from the underground metal scene of the 1990s, the band developed a distinctive sound combining heavy guitar riffs, dark melodies, atmospheric keyboards, and intense vocals. Their music explores philosophical themes, existential questions, and the darker aspects of human existence. Te Deum made their first recording, the “Remembrance” demo, in 1996 and gradually established themselves as one of the notable representatives of Ukraine’s doom/death metal scene.

The band released their debut full-length album, “Бездна” (“The Abyss”), in 1999, followed by “Тлеющий мир” (“Smoldering World”) in 2002. These releases showcased the group’s evolving approach to doom/death metal, blending crushing heaviness with melancholic atmospheres and melodic arrangements. Over the years, Te Deum went through several lineup changes and periods of inactivity, but the band’s commitment to dark, atmospheric metal remained central to their identity.

After a long hiatus, Te Deum returned with “Reflexia”, released on November 22, 2022. The album marked a new chapter in the band’s history, combining their characteristic doom/death metal foundation with more contemporary production and refined musical arrangements. Featuring ten tracks, “Reflexia” reflects on the passage of time, personal experiences, and the melancholic complexity of life.

Despite the war and devastation in Ukraine, Te Deum continue their creative journey. A new full-length album, Gates to the Unknown, is set for release on November 20, 2026. The album has absorbed the doom and despair that pervade the world around us. Reflections on death and what lies beyond are expressed through heavy guitar tones and somber melodies.

With a history spanning more than three decades, Te Deum continue to represent the enduring spirit of the Ukrainian metal underground, bringing together the weight of death metal and the introspective atmosphere of doom.
