L.A. Project – The Throne new single
Multi-instrumentalist and composer Luis Amaro has been active on the Portuguese music scene since the 1980s, first with metal bands like Deadwitch, Exiled and Stone Cold Lips and later with the hard rock outfit CoastWise. However, when the pandemic struck, making rehearsals and band interaction so much more difficult, he created L.A. Project – initially as an instrumental venture, an outlet for his song writing and imagination. As the world began to open up once more, Luis invited different musicians to contribute to the L.A. Project recordings – a variety of vocalists who all brought different qualities to his songs and notable talents like Rich Gray (Aeon Zen, Annihilator etc) and Fabio Alessandrini (Annihilator, Bonfire etc). In recent years different incarnations of L.A. Project have released diverse EPs like 5 Dimensions, Electric Life and Space Fuzz, covering hard rock, heavy metal and stoner rock. And now – with a new collective of collaborators by his side, Luis Amaro has a brand new L.A. Project single to unleash – ‘The Throne’!
‘The Throne’ is a powerful piece of classic metal – driving and focussed – with vocalist Jurekk James (Edge Of Attack, ex-Kobra And The Lotus) carrying the melody effortlessly. The hooks are gleaming, irresistible, while the chorus is instantly memorable. The bass roams across the ironclad drum foundations and Luis Amaro’s solos are intuitive, finding every note that the metal heart is yearning for and providing the perfect glittering adornment to the song. Without question one of the strongest tracks to bear the L.A. Project name, ‘The Throne’ was endorsed by ex-Megadeth/current Metal Church bassist David Ellefson, who recorded a video shout out for the song’s Spotify release.
Produced by Luis himself, ‘The Throne’ has a rugged sonic strength that hits hard whilst elevating the melodic elements of the composition into the spotlight. L.A.
