Genre: Black Metal / Extreme Metal / Atmospheric Black Metal / Dissonant Black Metal
Country: Sweden

CIRCULAR RUIN is a 5-piece band delivering the LP ‘A SERMON IN TONGUES’, a 37-minute assault of atmospheric dissonance inspired by, but not in any way imitating, prominent acts such as Dissection, Craft and Unanimated. Notable backup vocals on song ‘The Altering Altar’ by David Sandström (Refused).

CIRCULAR RUIN is the ever-recurring end of everything once great, the endless cycle of temporary prosperity followed by death and devastation, and the inevitable demise of humanity by its own hand.

From the band’s founding in Uppsala, Sweden in 2019, via the celebrated 2023 EP Future Graves, the unique expression now found on the 2026 LP ‘A SERMON IN TONGUES’ will be unleashed upon an unsuspecting world. With most members from various acts within the Swedish underground, the lineup is topped off with vocalist Oskar Tornborg (Wormwood, Withershin).

In a world where categorization is immensely important, CIRCULAR RUIN leisurely traverse genres in the bleak landscape of extreme metal. With one foot firmly grounded in the cold musical expressions of Black Metal, the other is free to roam into the territories of Death Metal, Thrash Metal, Post-Hardcore, and whatever other genre the songs demand.
