Single Review: Gaerea – Hellbound for #METALMOMENTUM via Century Media Records by Pegah

Gaerea return with their new single “Hellbound”, taken from their upcoming album Loss, set for release in March 2026 via Century Media Records. The track hints at an even more extreme and emotionally charged direction for the Portuguese black metal collective, pushing their sound further beyond the suffocating intensity of “Coma”.

Lyrically, “Hellbound” delves deep into personal guilt, identity conflict, and the paradox of liberation through damnation. The band continues to explore human anguish and self-confrontation, but with a sharper, more intimate edge.

The cover art amplifies these ideas — echoing Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam, yet transforming divine connection into a vision of disconnection and self-fracture. The two shadowed hands, forever reaching but never touching, mirror the song’s existential tension: the struggle between who we are and who we wish to be. 9/10
