Album Review: The Void Wanderer – Life Is Exhausting via Cryo Chamber by Pegah

Anytime I feel exhausted, I just wish to be somewhere far away from everyone and everything — a quiet place where I can forget about all the pain and weight I carry inside. I imagine sitting before a window that opens to endless mountains, their peaks symbols of life’s journey — of overcoming challenges and finding peace. As my eyes wander across the slopes, I think about my past and my place in the present, searching for even the smallest reason to return to life. “Life Is Exhausting” by The Void Wanderer, released on the Cryo Chamber label, feels like an album made for such moments — an opportunity to step away from the noise, and to leave everything behind, even if only for a few minutes.

The opening track, “The Forgotten Shrine in the Mountains” feels like that place. Its soundscape is a sanctuary — the soft patter of rain, the dreamy air of solitude, the sense of being gently reminded to stay in the moment. In that stillness, my soul feels free from pain, floating in pure peace. Despite its title, “Life Is Exhausting” is not heavy or despairing. It’s calm — an invitation to pause, to hesitate, to step away from the noise of the material world and rest. It’s a reminder to remember those we’ve loved, and to find comfort in their echoes.

Isolation, Part I” and “Part II” unfold like meditations on loneliness and renewal. Their serene soundscapes pull me inward, into a reflection of light within darkness — a journey toward the hidden places where lost souls linger. “Never Cry” feels like a message from those souls — from our loved ones — a soft whisper carried by the rain, urging us toward renewal. Its distant echoes suggest the quiet value of being together, even when apart.

Burial Lullaby” shifts the atmosphere; the air grows heavier, the textures darker. Yet beneath the weight, hope still glows faintly. It’s a song about embracing loss, accepting pain, and learning to live with the holes it leaves behind. By the time “Watch Me Fade Away” arrives, the rain returns — not as sorrow, but as release. It’s the moment of reconciliation, when the self finds peace after grief.

For me, “Life Is Exhausting” was a companion through hard times — a soft touch, a calm breeze reminding me that life still continues, even in the depths of sorrow. For as long as the album lasts, I can feel the long-forgotten sense of calm and peace return. 8.5/10
