Album Review: Sanghrial – Human Depletion by Sílvia

This album is a furious offering of the purest Old School Swedish Death Metal sound, driven by infectious riffs, merciless drumming and a brutal vocal performance. All seasoned with the constant and hypnotic buzz of low tuned guitars and deeply resonating bass notes. I can’t resist something like this, I surrender to Sanghrial

Three beasts are the lineup for Sanghrial :
Nikita “Osgilliath” Smirnov (Seid, Walls of the Desolate) – Guitars, bass, backing vocals
Julian Bellenox (Nazghor, Morphetik) – Vocals
Arvid Borg (Entrails) – Drums

After an intro that could fit perfectly a DSBM album, “Nihilist Doctrine” explodes in your face, and only a few seconds have passed and I’m already overwhelmed. This is one of the shortest tracks in the album and it’s ultra infectious because of its characteristic guitar sound, bringing that Swedish Death Metal “delicacy” to the listener. Also the fuming drum patterns contribute to the madness in this track. Damn, what a destruction machine! The vocals are spitting fire, in the form of cavernous roars and raspy screams.

Some riffs will get stuck mercilessly in your brain, and as the album progresses the brutality is assured. “Merciless Infection” is loyal to its title, it causes instant brain damage to the listener. “Great Black Death” starts like a steamroller with those drums that are about to explode, and the guitar solo in this song makes my metal heart melt. Julian is also doing a great vocal work, with his excellent harsh and dark style.

“Chaosbane” is another short track and one of the most intense, with that fast and constant rumble of drums, it’s something insane… This is pure ear destruction, and those savage and brrrutal vocals are the icing on this deathlike cake.

The entire album will cause a savage infection that will devour your entrais like a ravenous monster. There are moments when you feel forced to shake your body frantically because the drums are beating like crazy, and the riffs are so infectious that become obsessive. In the rare moments of calm, like in “A Sentenced Breed”, you are unconsciously preparing for the beast to come back and catch you with its strong deadly grip. Consume at your own risk.  9,5/10  by  Sílvia
