(Single Review) Black Cloud Man – A Worm’s Tale by #Sílvia

Black Cloud Man is the brainchild of the Swedish musician Knut Hassel, who is releasing very interesting and quality stuff lately, be with Woodland (epic Doom Metal), with Bloodking (melodic epic Heavy Metal), and now this second single after his very first one, “Moloch” (which is a delightful song with great vocals, Anton Palmborg at that duty, a brilliant guitar work and a very epic feel). Oh it seems that this is a word I’ve repeated a few times in this paragraph… but, it’s not my fault that Knut Hassel’s main thing is providing this kind of feel in his music!

“A Worm’s Tale” is the second offering by Black Cloud Man, and what you can expect here is… yeah you guessed it, more epic vibes, driven by the fantastic guitar work done by Knut, very melodic yet with a strong grip. I mean, when I listen to this track focusing on guitars, the melodies get easily stuck in my head, and the way this instrument is played and recorded in different layers (don’t know how many guitars are playing at the same time at some points but the sound can be massive!) provides a big surrounding and immersive effect.

The bass is also doing a good job, not just playing the low notes, but also remarking the “cave effect” that I have when I’m listening to this track on repeat. I close my eyes and I imagine myself inside a dark but warm cave, where the stone walls bounce the bass sound around and the notes reach my ears dense, almost solid. Listening to this music with good headphones helps, no doubt, but it’s the awesome production that makes it shine.

This time, it’s Ryan Simmons doing vocals and his raspy, dark, fierce growls fit the song perfectly. His voice entwines with the vibrating bass notes, with the harmonies and riffs that just float around you and come and go in waves… It’s mesmerizing. Drums are programmed by Anton Palmborg, he did brilliant work here. Honestly, I can’t notice the difference from “real” drums, for me the sound is perfect, and at some sections it becomes thunderous, overwhelming…

I’m definitely in love with the fire and passion that comes out from “A Worm’s Tale”, and I highly recommend you all to stay tuned ‘cause I’m sure there will be more big things coming from Black Cloud Man in the near future. 8,5/10 by Sílvia
