#ShortOnes CLXXXIX #UndergroundRecos

Hello there,
Here I’m again writing some lines.
For today, I decided to do a review of two albums from one label that I have several releases.
The label sent me directly the last two releases from the past year and for that, thank you a lot.
Grabbing the releases directly in my hand, opening the booklet, putting the CD on the player, press play, looking directly at the artwork, etc., the sensation is totally different from just listening to the releases on my stereo.
So, let us start with the review…

Band: Cryptal Echoes
Album: Cryptal Echoes
Label: Morbid Chapel Records
Release date: November 13th, 2024
Country: Austria
Format reviewed: CD
This is the first release from this Austrian band. And I have to be honest, even if is nothing magnificent, is well done and catchy. At least manage to grab me and listen to it till the end, and many times. Originally released by the band digitally and on music cassette by the Austrian label Urban Lurk and a few months later released again by the American label Noxious Ruin also on music cassette format, Morbid Chapel Records released it on CD. A format that nowadays is getting in the second plan, but I like it. Anyway… About the band.
The play plays a mix of Death / Doom Metalor at least it looked at the beginning, but after many times listening to, my opinion started to change a bit. They are more Death Metal and Doom Metal, to be honest, well, I think that is not there. I explain. Do you remember Autopsy and the albums released by them? It had the Death Metal tempos, the dirty sound, and then some slow parts with a decadent tempo marked by the drums and some rotten filthy riffs?
well, if you remember that, you have Cryptal Echoes. So, in my opinion, they are just a Death Metal band. An old-school Death Metal band. Yes, I loved the release. The EP, with almost 30min (I have already seen albums with less time), transports us to the glorious ’90s’ when Death Metal was giving cards, and a lot of bands (now, some of them are cult) were taking the first steps. This band I will put on my notes to search and try to stay updated when they release something new. I want to follow this band. With no doubts 8.5/10

Band: Casket Flesh
Album: Buried Beneath Human Remains
Label: Morbid Chapel Records
Release date: November 13th, 2024
Country: USA
Format reviewed: CD
After one demo, one single, included on the release that I will write some lines, this American band show us a good old fashion rotten filthy Death Metal. This band reminds me bands like, Abscess, Necrophagia, Cianide, etc. So I think you already got the idea of what they are playing.
Once again I have to admit, nothing new or nothing that I can listening to with my eyes open while listening to the amazing music quality. Nah, that didn’t happened, but… My head and foot was moving and trust me, to that happening, it means that I’m enjoying it a lot. And I did. Unfortunantly the EP only has almost 20min of very good music. Yes, only that, but you can do like me, press play again and enjoy it again and again.
It was good listening to this release and returning back in my mind to the ’90s, remembering things, gigs I saw, albums I manage to get, others that I only had the pleasure to listen to and never saw them again. This EP could be there if it was released that time.
Thank you a lot for this release and the good music. 8.5/10
In resume…
Both bands released a very good Death Metal in the old style. I was honoured to listening to this two releases and thank you a lot to the label that send me the CDs
See you next week and…
Don’t forget to support the bands and labels.
