And now it’s time to Thraaaaash! Oh yeah, this is a short album, a 4 track EP, but with an intense sound that will leave you with some neck damage… probably.

The guys in Chemical Storm didn’t invent the wheel, but of course this is not needed to release some good music. They stick to the formula of Old School sound, classic Thrash, energetic and punching. This was enough to make me interested in their music the first time I listened to this EP.

The guitars deliver a big amount of riffs, of the unpolished kind, yeah that’s the way that Thrash is supposed to sound. A bit evil, a bit rough, a bit “primitive”, with that taste of smoke and smell of sweat, imagine being in a mosh and start  headbanging and whirling around, just because the music asks you to do that. More or less is what happens with “Digital Dementia”, when the first song starts to play it’s like a “call to arms” for all metalheads…

After a short intro with some digital devices sounds, the madness begins. “God Forbid” is a neck breaker, guitars play addictive riffs and drums do their part by being energetic and increase their pace as the song progresses. Nice way to be thrown at this Chemical Storm album, even if it’s short it goes straight to the bone. Vocals mainly consist of screamed ones, delivered in an angry way, and oh let me say THIS is the way.

The guitar solos kick ass, they are very well executed, always proving very technical skills. And I also like the way that drums are mercilessly smashed, it’s obvious these guys don’t want to leave a single skull uncrushed. Or, like in the intro of “Blunt Force Drama”, building a forceful start along with the bass that lead the listener to instantly start headbanging when the guitars join. Maybe my only “but…” is that this song in particular results a bit too long, almost 7 minutes and this makes some riffs repetitive. Only my opinion.

Well, here you are, a discharge of adrenalin to put you in the right mood. I’ll keep my ears peeled for what they can do in the future. For me it’s a 8/10  Sílvia
