BAZUndergroundUpdates CCXXVII

And we are at the end of August already! Of course, whatever month it may be does not stop our writers Julia Katrin and Tom Osman from presenting the weekly Underground Updates as usual!

So, let’s see what’s out there…

OCEANS OF SLUMBER A brand new track is now available from Oceans of Slumber titled The Given Dream, taken from their upcoming sixth album Where Gods Fear to Speak, scheduled for a release on the 13th of September! Head over here right now to check out the track, and of course over here to place your album pre-order!

GAEREA It is safe to say that Gaerea has not been sitting idly for the past couple of years, and now it is time for their upcoming fourth album! Not just a black metal band anymore, Coma is scheduled for a release on October 25th, but already you can head over here to check out the new single taken from the album, Unknown, and of course over here to place your album pre-order!

FIRES IN THE DISTANCE Just last week Fires in the Distance presented a brand-new live music video for the track Harbingers ahead of their forthcoming North American tour in support of no lesser bands but Amorphis and Dark Tranquility! You should definitely not let this video pass you by without checking it out right over here, and of course if you are a fan of all of these bands you should head over here right now to claim your ticket for the upcoming tour!

NEUROT RECORDINGS And of course as always, our favourite Pay What You Can segment over at Neurot Recordings continues! This week’s album pick is Ecate by Ufomammut! Head over here right now and claim your very own copy, and simply pay what you can!

GENERATION OF VIPERS 10 years on from 2014’s Coffin Wisdom, Knoxville, Tennessee’s Generation of Vipers have just released a visceral explosion of punk-infused atmospheric-sludge metal on Translation Loss Records with Guilt Shrine. Produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge, the album is available to listen to in full here (or buy digitally) and you can buy the album on vinyl from the label’s webstore here.

EVILYN Featuring members of Thoren, Malignancy, Exist, Norse, Mondestrunken (the debut record of Evilyn) is death metal of the most intensely mind-melting kind. As brutally heavy as it is bizarre and twisted, this album will punch a hole in your sofa and leave a portal into another dimension. Listen to the album in full here. You can buy the album on a host of different formats, with a whole treasure trove of merch to go with it — as the album is out on Transcending Obscurity and that’s what they do.

HAR And for the feeling that the earth is opening up into a hellish chasm of doom, check out Cursed Creation — newly released by Berlin-based black-metal five-piece HAR. Out on Dark Descent Records, you can listen to the album in full here, where it’s also available to buy on CD, cassette and two vinyl versions. Not one for your local church service… well, maybe it depends on the church.

Having to pay gigantic sums for international postage is a real gear grinder. While it’s our default setting to link Bandcamp pages in the case of new and pre-releases, we thought it would be helpful to add some online stores that might provide a useful alternative.

So if you see a release you fancy, but it’s being sold in a far off land and you don’t want to fork out on exorbitant shipping, see if any of the links below can remedy the situation.
