#BAZUndergroundUpdates CLXXIX

4 min read

Tuesday never fails to come around every single week! As devoted observers of days, our writers Julia Katrin and Tom Osman of course don’t see this as a surprise and are back with yet another instalment of The Underground Updates!

So, let’s see what’s out there…

SUN O))) Now, Sun O))) are very pleased to announce the next leg of their 25th anniversary Shoshin Duo 2023 Tour coming in November and December this year! All concerts will be supported by a special guest and long-time allies Jesse Sykes w/ Phil Wandscher, and in addition a very special Seattle show will be happening at The Moore Theatre including Earth performing their cult album Earth2! Not too shabby, right? Head over here right now for more ticket info!

THRA Along with a ton of killer bands, Thra just announced that they will be featured on Disemboweled God Fest 2024 in Seattle, WA, and you do not want to miss out on your chance to snag a ticket! In the near future they will announce additional tour dates, but for now you want to head over here to secure your ticket before it sells out!

HAGELANDT FEST IV The complete billing for Hagelant Fest IV has been announced! While the tickets are already limited to only 150, there are 50 tickets available for an early bird special so you might want to have extra quick hands! For tickets and further info you can head over here, and to see the Facebook event you can head over here!

CREMATION GROUNDS A “mass of tripped-out filth and drug-damaged black sludge” you say? Sold! As the bandcamp release page explains, the newly released Lord of Nerves by Cremation Grounds was originally recorded in 2009, only for the recordimg to be seemingly lost forever. Newly unearthed, this recording is now available digitally for the first time on Crucial Blast, with a live performance and physical release in the pipeline. Read the full story here, listen in full and buy a digital copy of this gloriously hellish soundscape.

BOLT GUN Exporing themes of “isolation, extinction, absurdity and nihilism” with their newly released 3rd album, The Tower, it sounds like Australian Experimental Metal act Bolt Gun are ready to party (if it’s an exiatantial nightmare party and that sounds just right to me!). The album is out now on Italy’s Avantgarde Music and you can listen and pick up a copy on a range of formats here. If you like a bit of Kafka and Swans inspired torment, you’d be doing yourself a disservice not to check it out.

EMBRACE YOUR PUNISHMENT Well, ok, I will. Featuring guest spots from members of Crowbar, Benighted and Misery Index, those names alone should give you an idea of the ten-ton brutality to expect from Made of Stone, the forthcoming release from French Death Metal act Embrace Your Punishment. Releases via Lacerated Enemy Records on the 1st of December. For now, there’s a bone-shattering preview track you can listen to here. If that floats your boat, there are CDs, merch and bundles available to pre-order.

Having to pay gigantic sums for international postage is a real gear grinder.

While it’s our default setting to link Bandcamp pages in the case of new and pre-releases, we thought it would be helpful to add some online stores that might provide a useful alternative.

So if you see a release you fancy, but it’s being sold in a far off land and you don’t want to fork out on exorbitant shipping, see if any of the links below can remedy the situation.

The fall events, tours, shows and of course merch and music are strong in this second half of September, which is always nice to help with getting us through these twilight days that land so heavily on some of us. Remember to keep an eye on dates, releases and everything else in order to take advantage of it, and of course remember to enjoy!
