#ShortOnes XCV #UndergroundRecos
Hello there,
Well, another week is gone and here we are again. The underground is alive and this month has been very productive related to new releases, pre-orders, announcing tours, gigs, etc. How I love this. Unfortunately, I can’t reach everything and I never will. But I try my best to stay updated. Anyway…
Check my recos…
Band: Bodyfarm
Title: Ultimate Abomination
Label: Edged Circle Productions
Release date: 24 February 2023
Country: Netherlands
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording
I remember the first time I read the band’s name… I thought it was a Vegan metal band. Twisted my mind I have to admit. Anyway… The band is from the Netherlands to the ones that don’t know anything about them and they play Old School Death Metal. The Dutch bands always had a personal touch in my opinion when they do their music. Bodyfarm in my opinion is showing that the European Old School Death Metal is not dead and is damn good. Support them.
Band: Skratte
Title: Akt II: Des Wolfes Klagen
Label: Northern Silence Productions
Release date: 03 February 2023
Country: Germany
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording
I was curious to listen to this album… Well… My opinion about it it’s a mix of “likes” I like this” and “I don’t like this”. So why I’m putting this on my recos article? Well, you are curious now aren’t you? let me give you some notes about this album. The band plays folk Metal, mixed with Melodic Black Metal, mixed with female folk voices (guests), mixed with some Gothic, mixed with rock touches, mixed with melancholy and dark feelings, it’s enough for you? so my “likes” and “dislikes” are about what sounds good to my ears, nothing against the mixes found on this album. The album has some very high moments but also some moments that really didn’t “touch” me at all, but even so, I advise this album, cause of the effort of the musician and the quality founded here even if I had some “dislikes”. Go, check it and support.
Band: Wounds of Recollection
Title: Warm Glow of the End of Everything
Label: Trepanation Recordings
Release date: 10 February 2023
Country: USA
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording
What this band is doing or playing is not new in the world’s music. Mixing Black Metal, in this case the post-black metal wave (if I can call that), and my opinion is nothing more than Rock mixed with Black Metal, now depends it is fast or slow. In the slow part many bands are mixing the sludge style, sometimes some Dark Ambient and effects that could fit very well in some New Wave bands. On the fast parts, well, the bands looks like a Black Metal band (sometimes) mixing it with a lot of deep feelings. This is my opinion about the post-Black Metal music style. In this case… Well, the band got my attention. So… Check them.
Don’t forget to support the bands and labels.
