#BAZUndergroundUpdates CXXVI

4 min read

Our writers Julia Katrin and Tom Osman in their own opinion never get a chance to recharge before its time for yet another instalment of The Underground Updates, and of course now they are back at it once again!

So, let’s see what’s out there…

ESOTERIC Dark experimental doom band Esoteric has announced a new European Tour coming up, and it will be the first tour in fact that they go on since the 2019 release of A Pyrrhic Existence! Supporting their fellow titans of doom Saturnus, the tour kicks off in Copenhagen, tours to 11 different countries and ends in France in November. To keep up with info on the tour as well as tickets, make sure you check over here regularly!

KEN MODE Apparently there is a new single and a video out now from Ken Mode titled “Unresponsive”, taken from their forthcoming noise-rock assault NULL, which you can check out over here, and in their own words you should also head over here to slam that pre-order, go get tickets to shows, and do all the things!

NEUROT RECORDINGS Our personal favourite, the weekly album pick over at Neurot Recordings! This week’s album is Solidarity by Tone and you can head straight over here to grab your copy and simply pay what you can at the checkout!

DUNKELHEIT PRODUKTIONEN Now offering 30% sale over at Dunkelheit Produktionen, we just want to make sure you realise the size of the giant archive of death, black, doom, ambient, dungeon, harsh and power metal really is by encouraging you to head over here and check out the selection!

THE CALLOUS BAOBOYS Far be it from us here at BAZ to ever impose simple genre categorisation on artists, still The Callous Daoboys do make it rather difficult for writers when it comes to describing their sound. Post-rock? Avant-garde? Jazz? Extreme metal? There’s some of all and more. Look, let’s just say that if you like Dillinger Escape Plan and Mr. Bungle this might be just the tonic you’ve been looking for. Check out the band’s new album Celebrity Therapist on MNRK Heavy here now and grab yourself a groovy, limited vinyl or cassette edition while you still can.

DIABOLIC OATH You know, sometimes it just feels right to put on some music that sounds like its summoning beelzebub from the depths of hell. In such situations it’s very likely that Sentient Ruin Laboratories is the place you want to go. In the case of the label’s latest release — Aischrolatreia, by Portland, Oregon’s self-proclaimed esoteric black/death metal group — that’s exactly what you’ll be getting. Check out the album in full here, buy yourself a copy and watch the sulphurous smoke rise up through your floorboards.

IMPRECATION Channelling the spirit of Morbid Angel and Deicide there’s more infernal carnage coming your way, this time in the form of In Nomine Diaboli the forthcoming release by Imprecation on Dark Descent Records. There’s a nasty preview track you can feast on here where you can also pre-order some delicious limited edition vinyl. Treat yourself and your long-suffering neighbours.

COFFIN TORTURE Sludgelord Records rarely disappoint with their excellently curated extreme metal releases. The latest announcement from the label — Blennoid by Coffin Torture — is due to be a great edition to the label’s catalogue, if the album’s opening track is anything to go by. You can listen to that here, where you can also pick up a limited edition cassette of this album due out on October 7th.

Having to pay gigantic sums for international postage is a real gear grinder.

While it’s our default setting to link Bandcamp pages in the case of new and pre-releases, we thought it would be helpful to add some online stores that might provide a useful alternative.

So if you see a release you fancy, but it’s being sold in a far off land and you don’t want to fork out on exorbitant shipping, see if any of the links below can remedy the situation.

Make sure you get those tickets, that merch and take advantage of the entertainment out there and enjoy life!
