If it isn´t March is just around the corner! Already two months of the year have just disappeared and just like always The Underground Update is back at it with our relentless writers Julia Katrin and Tom Osman!
So, let’s see what’s out there…

SCHATTENFALL, creators of excellent Atmospheric Black Metal, have a new track out on Bandcamp and it’s for a great cause too. All proceeds of Die Klagen von Grau (in support of Ukraine) will go to Ukraine for humanitarian aid. Head over to Bandcamp to buy a copy and show your support.
BEYOND DEATH’S THRONE Oslo, Norway’s Duplicate Records just released Haphazard Ethos, the debut mini-album by Spanish Black Metal group Beyond Death’s Throne, and it’s ferocious. Head over here to listen in full and pick up a copy.
NIHILO Meanwhile, over at Mexico’s Iron, Blood & Death Corporation there’s a new attack of Swiss Death Metal in the form of Resolution, the latest album by Nihilo. Combining old school Death, Crust and Grind, those looking for a remorseless, auditory hammer attack may enjoy this one. Head over here to pick up a copy on digital or CD and listen to a stream of the album.
CABINET This is one of those occasions where the title really dictates that you have to check this out, if you’re tickled by this kind of thing. Claustrophobic Dysentery, the first full-length release by Cabinet, will be released on bloody mountain records on March 30th. Following the debut EP Decomposing Hexahedronic Seplophobia, it’s music made by a demonic set of shelves, or something like that. Check out the preview track here, where you can pre-order the album on cassette.
SADIST Sometimes a Metal band has a name so cool that you know at least four or five bands must have used the same name. So let’s be clear, this is Sadist, long-running, Technical Death Metal unit from Genova, Italy and from the preview track Finger Food, their latest album Firescorched promises to be… well, a scorcher. Listen here and pre-order the album on a range of different formats from Agonia Records. Album due May 20th.
Having to pay gigantic sums for international postage is a real gear grinder. While it’s our default setting to link Bandcamp pages in the case of new and pre-releases, we thought it would be helpful to add some online stores that might provide a useful alternative. So if you see a release you fancy, but it’s being sold in a far off land and you don’t want to fork out on exorbitant shipping, see if any of the links below can remedy the situation.
Napalm Records (Germany)
Throne Records (World)
With a brand new month just around the corner we believe of course that it’s the perfect opportunity to stock up on fabulous new merch and music made available to us as we wait for what will hopefully be an eventful and fun summer!
