#BAZUndergroundUpdates XCVII

At the moment this is written, one of our writers Julia Katrin is suffering from such fear of flying as she prepares to step on not just one of those machines but two. Her brain is therefore unable to think straight so we will instead rely on our other writer Tom Osman to keep this week’s installment of The Underground Updates under control!

So, let’s see what’s out there…

BURIAL HEX A brand new video is now available to watch over here of the track Lion’s Breath by Burial Hex! The track is taken from the group´s new album Gauze which is scheduled for a release on the coming 11th of march via Cold Spring!

NEUROT RECORDINGS As previously mentioned a few times, Neurot Recordings is doing us a huge helping hand to get through these tough times with their weekly Pay what You can offer, and this week’s pick is the album The Eye of Every Storm by Neurosis! Head over here to claim your copy and enjoy!

BLACK LION RECORDS Just a quick reminder that the february sale is still going strong at Black Lion Records giving us 55% discount with the code blacklionrec55. The discount is included on physical pre-orders as well as new stuff so make sure you head over here because we suspect there is something on there that appeals to everyone!

ANACHORET Step into the realms of the winteriest (is that a word) of black metal with the debut album of Anachoret on Berlin, Germany’s Folter Records. Many years in the making, Syndrom can be purchased on CD or digital here. You can listen to the album in full on the same link and check out the rest of the label’s catalogue.

BACKSLIDER Newly released on To Live a Lie Records, Psychic Rot, the second album by Backslider, has a little something of the Melvins and Crowbar about it. It also has rather a lot of the smash-you-in-the-face-auditory-assault about it. Sounds like a fun time, right? Yes it does. You can listen to the album in full here and if you like what you hear, buy a digital copy, with vinyl copies being made available hopefully soon.

SYK There’s been some mighty fine Italian metal doing the rounds in recent times, often with a whiff of the avant-garde about it (Ad Nauseam and Postvorta to name a couple). Judging by the preview track (available to listen to here) this forthcoming third album by Syk (on Housecore Records/ Nuclear Blast) promises to be a satisfying blast of avant-extreme metal. There’s something of the Julia Christmas in these vocals. Can that be a bad thing? No, it cannot. You can pre-order the album on several editions, including limited vinyl, on the link above.

Having to pay gigantic sums for international postage is a real gear grinder. While it’s our default setting to link bandcamp pages in the case of new and pre-releases, we thought it would be helpful to add some online stores that might provide a useful alternative. So if you see a release you fancy, but it’s being sold in a far off land and you don’t want to fork out on exorbitant shipping, see if any of the links below can remedy the situation.

As spring continues to elude us for just a little longer we here at BAZ nevertheless hold on to hope of a fun summer laying a head with some fun in-person-meeting-others-moshpit creating events that none can skip! So let’s continue for just a little longer to wash and satanize those high held horns!
