#ShortOnes XXVIV #UndergroundRecos

Hello there,

And… Yes, true. Weekend and blá blá blá blá. You know the drill. Work/week, rest (or not)/weekend.
But I want to know who was the crazy motherf****r who “invented” those terms? What you are asking…
Simple. Week, too much time, and just one word. Weekend, just two fckg days and a mix of two words. No one saw this BIG mistake? Cmon. It’s everything wrong. Ahahahahahahahahah. Let me stop with crazy thoughts and let me start the music. Check the next recos that I have for you and I really hope you enjoy it.

Band: Cult of Eibon
Title: Black Flame Dominion
Label: Iron Bonehead Productions
Release date: 29 October 2021
Country: Greece
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording

Let’s go and return to the ’90s and listen to some Hellenic Black Metal? Well, if you want that, just listen to this new album. This album is a real tribute to the old Hellenic Black Metal and the Feeling, the riffs, the voice, and even the “production” is there. In the ’90s was really happy while listening to bands back then and now… Another very good release that reminded me of those days. Thank you for that. But… They are not only a “tribute” band and this album is not just another old fashion Hellenic Black Metal album. Is a very good Hellenic Black Metal album and… Check the band if you don’t know them.

Band: Malgöth
Title: Glory Through Savagery
Label: Iron Bonehead Productions
Release date: 01 October 2021
Country: Canada
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording

If I tell you that Malgöth is 3 persons, but one of them plays the guitars, bass, and drums and the other 2 members are just vocalists? And the music history from the multi-instrument members is basically Death Metal, Brutal Death Metal, Grindcore, and Death Doom Metal? What would you expect from Malgöth? Another Death Metal band? Well… Yes, and about 1% of Black Metal, ahahahahah. The riffs, the drum kicks, the production, the solos, the “brutality” are Death Metal and nothing more. The voices too to be honest. So where is the Black Metal? Just cause the band calls itself Black Death Metal. Its a good album and in my opinion you should check it.

Band: Noltem
Title: Illusions in the Wake
Label: Transcending Obscurity Records
Release date: 15 October 2021
Country: USA
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording

If my mind doesn’t trick me, around 2017 or maybe in 2018 I heard the EP named “Mannaz” cause of the band named Yahar’gul, where Gehrman is the only member. This person is John Kerr, the drummer, and vocalist since 2015 on Noltem. So when I got this promo my mind recognized the name but to be honest I was not remembering from where only after a few research and after seeing the “Mannaz” cover I remembered +/- when I did it. The music is still in the same vein, sometimes a bit more “epic” and with more folk influences and more atmospheric touches where and there. At least was the sensation/feeling I got. But, at the same time, is not an album that managed to grab me on the first or second listening. I had to listen to it more times and that was because of just two songs. “Illusions in the Wake” and “Beneath the Dreaming Blue” (the single of the album). So… after listening to it many more times, this album is a very good one and in my opinion is an album that you MUST listen to.

Band: Скверна Линия (Skverna Liniya)
Title: В венке из воска (In a Garland of Wax)
Label: Casus Belli Musica & Beverina Productions (CD) / BMC Productions (MC)
Release date: 01 October 2021
Country: Russia
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording

In the last years (I already mentioned this) Russia started to be a big country related to Black Metal. Always existed good Black Metal bands in Russia but lately with the boom of Atmospheric Black Metal, more and more bands are coming from there. And to be honest almost all one-man-band. Not this case, cause, there are two persons behind it. Well, I already said the style played by the band, if you know the releases of the label, you already know (also) the style of the band. Returning, to the band… This band released a very good album. It’s a strong one, with a lot of melody, aggressiveness, feeling, and of course atmosphere. Check them.

Don’t forget to support the bands and labels.
