BAZ Underground Updates LVIII

Right, this week our writers Julia Katrin and Tom Boatman are going to get straight to the point with a brand new article of The Underground Updates!

So, let’s see what’s out there…

Band: Midnight Force

For this coming Friday, May 14th, we got Midnight Force coming up for an interview which will be conducted by Aidan and André of Epic Metal Blog but in addition to an interview there will also be some show clips from the group´s show in Hamburg from last March, in order to somewhat bridge the gap until they will once again be able to perform live for us again. So let us grab some cold beverages this upcoming Friday and tune in on YouTube once the link will be provided, and you can keep track of all of that over here.

Band: Cradle of Filth

Looking at a boring Wednesday? Not anymore! Cradle of Filth is planning on a massive live stream on the 12th of May which will actually be the first time they play together since 2019, and they will be taking the opportunity to introduce their brand new keyboard player! All you must do is head over here for your ticket, as well as to check out the two exclusive t-shirt bundles. Oh, and with every purchased ticket there is a chance to win a COF guitar worth over 2000 dollars, courtesy of Vorona Guitars!

Band: Aversio Humanitatis

Last year saw the release of “Behold the Silent Dwellers” by Spain’s Aversio Humanitatis, one raging slab of dissonant, monstrous Black Metal and now Debemur Morti Productions have announced the album is to be reissued on grey splatter vinyl with an 8-page booklet. The album will be out on June 11th and you can pre-order here.

Band: Amenra

Formed over 20 years ago, Belgium’s Amenra are one of those bands that you can’t pigeonhole into a neat categorisation, but what can be said with confidence is that they play real heavy, with slow, pounding savagery. Music that will make you feel the weight of the world, though as with other apocalyptic post-rock/doom/sludge bands like ISIS or Neurosis the band can also add delicacy and light into the mix from time to time. With plenty of worthy releases in their back catalogue, the band has their first album on Relapse Records due for release on June 25th, but of course we wouldn’t be writing about them here if there weren’t some tasty vinyl pre-orders you can snap up (as well as CD and cassette and some cool merch). Do yourself a favour and check out the band and their forthcoming release here.

Band: Amebix

For a band as hugely influential as Amebix the band’s originally life-span was relatively short. After two iconic mid-80s albums, the crust punk pioneers disbanded before resurfacing and delivering an album of new material (2011’s Sonic Mass) as well as an EP of re-recordings (Redux). Although the band then promptly split again, this year saw the release of a live show the band did back in 2009 and now you can pick up a copy of this performance on a red vinyl and DVD set (there’s also a CD/DVD option). So if you want to appreciate fucking bangers “The Power Remains” in a slightly more polished form than their (undoubtely glorious) original forms you should step right here.

Band: Nortfalke

Looking for something a little more soothing, but still dark and ominous? Well you might then be just in the mood for some dungeon synth courtesy of the Netherlands’ Nortfalke. Due for release on June 12th, “Seefonktjúenderee” will be the band’s third album and the first with the excellent Dunkelheit Produktionen label (stay tuned for a review of the label’s recently released new album by Rituals of the Dead Hand). “Seefonktjúenderee” is available to order on three very limited (and extremely gorgeous looking) vinyl editions. Check them out here and bathe in this sample of the album below:

Surely all of you out there are still washing and sanitizing your horns before raising them, right? We know we are!
