Short Ones – VI – #UndergroundRecos

2 min read

Sometimes our mind is looking for something and our body another. Well, my body was asking for some rest during this week, but my mind was asking for some music. It was a big struggle, to be honest. Ahahahahah. Here I leave to you some of the music I managed to listen to this week.

I really hope you enjoy it. Check it.

Band: Cicada the Burrower
Title: Corpseflower
Label: Blue Bedroom Records
Release date: 23 April 2021
Country: USA
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording

This band surprised me a lot by the positive. A very good surprise to be honest with a lot of quality. Moving inside the Progressive world with some touches of Black Metal, not the traditional one, but with the Post Black Metal style. The songs are very well done. Not everyone will enjoy this. This combination of styles is for some not for all. Not being an elitist, just say my sincere opinion. But give them a listen. They deserve.

Band: Feradur
Title: Parakosm
Label: Independent
Release date: 30 April 2021
Country: Luxembourg
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording

Well, to start I have to say this. Since I started to listen to Metal back at the beginning of the 90s’ there are very few bands from Luxembourg that I know, so thank you for Feradur to be one of those. The band is good. Very good old style, very good Melodic Death Metal. They deserve a listen. Do it.

Band: Múspellzheimr
Title: Múspellzheimr
Label: Amor Fati Productions
Release date: 05 May 2021
Country: Denmark
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording

Originally released in 2020, but now the German label decided to release it again. Thanks for that. Múspellzheimr is a mysterious band and not so much info about them is available. But keep searching about it. But I’m not here talking about it, but about the music and that is the most important for me. The Black Metal they play is hypnotic and so damn good, but… Not for all, that is sure. The way they approach and play the Black Metal will not be for all. Listen and give them a chance.

Band: Ascète
Title: Calamites & les Calamités
Label: Antiq Records
Release date: 28 May 2021
Country: France
Format reviewed: High-quality Digital Recording

From France… Well, I always had the opinion that the French Black Metal was/is different. And… Ascète is the proof of that, like many other French bands. I have to admit, that this album was not “getting inside” me on the first 2 or 3 hearings. But after that, click. The button was on and started to enjoy it a lot. The changes of tempos, the acoustic parts, the voice, the songs… Listen to them.

Don’t forget to support the bands and labels.
